Artist Michael Gibbs will exhibit his work at the College Center in South Sioux City. In 2007 I opened a gallery in a renovated building on Main Street in Ponca hoping to sell the works of local artists, but found I was inspired to become an artist myself, fulfilling a life long dream. My work has been described as abstract impressionist and very painterly. My three entries in the annual competition at The Gallery, Siouxland Artists Inc. recently received awards and I have been accepted as part of the co-op artists who display at The Gallery.

Artist Richard Wagner will exhibit his work at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. I create carvings in chip, relief and carving in the round. Chip and relief is a style of carving in which knives and chisels are used to remove material from a flat piece of wood. Carving all around the piece, like a statue, is carving "in the round". Ina M. Glaubiuswill exhibit at The Chatt Center in Tekamah. I am an advanced amateur photographer whose work was awarded a blue ribbon at the 2010 Nebraska State Fair. I want to offer a glimpse of nature familiar only to those who gaze at the world through a magnifying lens to encourage viewers to notice the details in their own daily journey. As a medical technologist, I often peered through a microscope and learned to marvel at the unseen beauty of the commonplace.

Mary Petersen will exhibit her work at Woodland Trails Art Center in Winnebago. I received my master's degree in art education from UNL and taught K-12 art for 22 years. I have worked with oils, acrylic, watercolor, pastel and pencil. I consider myself primarily a landscape painter and feel it is critical an artist work from one's own environment, depicting the things one is familiar with and knows best, so the work will have honesty and validity regardless of the subject matter. I believe strongly in the importance of good composition and mastery of basic design elements, and in capturing the mood and spirit of my subject. I am a longtime member of the Logan Valley Artists in Oakland and the Association of Nebraska Art Clubs (ANAC). I have received various awards from these two art associations, including the Grumbacher Award at the 1995 ANAC Conference Show.
